Comic book swipes and homages, along with art that appears to have been--at least in part!-- inspired by other art. And there's lots of the Silver Age Fantastic Four here because that was just about my favorite comic book back then!

ReplyDeleteI just checked out a bunch of Tuska/Kirby swipes from several of your other posts. I guess Tuska had to "borrow" so many Kirby shots cuz Tuska was so new to comics, huh? (And of course, that's a joke. I'm somewhat familiar with George's history in the medium.)
Ha! Yes, I was very surprised when I first started seeing Kirby stuff in Tuska's art, such as that Ghost Rider panel and FF 67 (in another post). And when I came across this Marianne Rodgers page the other day I was like hey, that's Alicia!
DeleteI imagine that since Tuska is from the generation of artists who worked in comic shops/studios aka assembly line production, for him borrowing images was a viable tool of the trade.
Tuska's is better, though
