Many of you have let me know that some of my image pairings & arrangements pop up in other venues such as Facebook Swipe groups (esp. the great COMICS SWIPES Facebook group). Well, I'm flattered the posts are popular and that people enjoy PANELOCITY's swipes and "inspired bys", regardless of where they are presented. After all, the Internet is meant for sharing, right?

Mad Maximus by Our Pal Sal and Pepe Larraz

You know, I always get a kick out of Maximus so I couldn't resist posting these: a panel from the very recent Inhuman #7, plus Sal Buscema's Max from a Bronze Age gem, Avengers #127. Not a swipe, but a nice use of reference IMO.

Giant-Size Avengers #1 (Pt 8) Lockjaw and the All-Winners Squad

Fantastic Four Annual 4-OriginalHumanTorch
Giant-Size Avengers 1 (1974) Buckler           Fantastic Four Annual 4 (1966) Kirby
And then, on the same pages as the above panels:
Fantastic Four Annual 4-TorchThatWas
Giant-Size Avengers 1 (1974)                                  Fantastic Four Annual 4 (1966)
We've seen this FF Annual #4 Sue/Reed panel elsewhere in GS Avengers #1.

Bonus! The Lockjaw FF Annual #4 panel shown above may also have been the template for another panel in GS Avengers #1:

Giant-Size Avengers #1 (Pt 7) Captain America and Whizzer Again

Giant Size Avengers 1-RichBuckler-Thomas
Giant-Size Avengers #1 (1974) Buckler
Captain America 105-InNameofBatroc
Captain America #105 (1968) Kirby

A possible inspiration-This image of Wanda has always reminded me of Crystal from Fantastic Four #45. Sure, it's not a slam dunk like Cap/Whizzer above--it's mostly the shape/length of the foregrounded leg, the shading to hint at the other leg in the background, set of the torso, etc.--but I love both Wanda and Crystal, so I'm including these!

Fantastic Four #148 (Pt 25) Pulled From the Pages of Fantastic Four 79

I knew this particular FF #148 panel was based on a panel from 1968's #79...
Fantastic Four 79-AMonsterForever
FF #148 (1974) Buckler                                             FF #79 (1968) Kirby
...and then I saw that all five of the panels on that #148 page were inspired by the same fight sequence in #79!  Here's the page from Fantastic Four #148, followed by three pages from Fantastic Four #79:
Fantastic Four 148-FrightfulFour
Fantastic Four #148 (1974) Buckler

Pages 17 and 18, Fantastic Four #79 (1968) Kirby
Breaking it down:

 FF #148 (1974) Buckler                                 FF #79 (1968) Kirby
Fantastic Four 79-BenGrimm
FF #148 (1974) Buckler                                                   FF #79 (1968) Kirby

You may already be familiar with this one; it's a popular example of a Kirby-inspired panel.

Here's the complete panel tier from #148. If the first panel looks familiar, that's because it too was inspired by Fantastic Four Annual #3--remember? ;)
