Many of you have let me know that some of my image pairings & arrangements pop up in other venues such as Facebook Swipe groups (esp. the great COMICS SWIPES Facebook group). Well, I'm flattered the posts are popular and that people enjoy PANELOCITY's swipes and "inspired bys", regardless of where they are presented. After all, the Internet is meant for sharing, right?

Fantastic Four #126 (Pt 2) Sue Storm Richards

We checked out Dr. Doom last time; now it's Sue's turn.

Bonus! Gene Colan probably referred to that same FF #42 sequence for his depiction of Sue in 1967's Daredevil #35.

Fantastic Four #126 (Pt 1) Doom Looms

Buscema's Dr. Doom may be somewhat based on Kirby's Fantastic Four #59 panel.  We'll take a look at Sue Richards next time.

Oh, and let's not forget Rich Buckler's panel of Galactus from this same angle, as seen in 1974's Thor #227.   Bucker's stint on Thor was contemporaneous with his FF stint, so it's not surprising that there's tons of Kirby-Thor swipes in Buckler's 1974 Thor run--check it out!

Fantastic Four #122 (Pt 2) Sue Falls

Not an angle Buscema used very often, so I think he was inspired by FF #16.

Fantastic Four #117 (Pt 3) Sue and Reed--Plus Ben

Was Buscema inspired by Kirby here? Maybe, maybe not. But his positioning of Reed and Sue reminds me of the cover of FF #41.

And yeah, I know you're already familiar with this #41 Reed 'n' Sue image; after all not too long ago we saw Buckler use it as a basis for Captain America and Mantis in 1974's Giant-Size Avengers #1, remember? ;).

Plus! Now, take a look at the panel preceding the Reed 'n' Sue panel in #117:

That's right, it's big, broad-backed Ben -- same camera angle/POV as Ben on the aforementioned FF #41 cover!  ;)
